On the night of Orson Welles’ infamous 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast, a fractured New Jersey family prepares for the end of the world—while a struggling radio writer fights to finally be heard. Terrestrials is an independent period feature film about family, ambition, love, and the stories we tell ourselves when we believe we have run out of time. Set in 1938, the film follows two worlds unfolding on the same night. At a CBS radio studio in New York, a frustrated young writer named Roddy Fischbach dreams of being taken seriously. Across the country, a fractured New Jersey farm family hears Orson Welles’ infamous broadcast and becomes convinced that a Martian invasion is actually happening. As the family prepares to defend their home from an alien invasion, old resentments, buried feelings, and years of things left unsaid begin coming to the surface. Meanwhile, Roddy finds himself caught between his desire to be seen as a writer and an unexpected romance with a young actress whose own dreams are about to take her to Hollywood. What begins as a story about the end of the world ultimately becomes a story about what people do when they believe they have no tomorrow.

We believe some of the most meaningful stories are about ordinary people finally saying the things they’ve been afraid to say.

Terrestrials uses one of the most famous moments in American radio history as the backdrop for a deeply human story about a family trying to find its way back to one another. The alien invasion may be fictional, but the emotions at the center of the film are real.

This is our first full-length feature, and we’re building it with an independent filmmaking team here in Texas. We’re not trying to recreate Hollywood on a massive budget. We’re trying to make the best film we can with the people, resources, and creativity available to us.
